In short
Permanent adhesive is made to stay; removable adhesive peels off cleanly later; repositionable and dot adhesives can be lifted and stuck down again.
Permanent adhesive
A permanent adhesive forms a strong bond that stays for the life of the sticker. It is the right choice for vehicle decals, labels, outdoor signs and anything you do not plan to move. Removing it usually needs heat and a scraper.
Removable adhesive
A removable adhesive grips well enough to last for months or years but peels away cleanly when you pull it off. It is used for window displays, wall graphics in rented premises and temporary signs. Once removed, it is not designed to be stuck down again.
Repositionable and dot adhesives
A repositionable sticker can be lifted and moved, and stuck down again, because the adhesive is light-tack or applied in a pattern of small dots rather than a full coat. Smooth dot reusable stickers can be applied and removed many times. These suit changing promotions, classrooms and trade show walls.
High-tack adhesive
A high-tack adhesive has a very strong grip for rough, textured or oily surfaces, such as brick, rendered walls or powder-coated metal.
Choosing
Match the adhesive to the surface and how long the sticker is needed. Always test an out-of-sight area first, particularly on paint.
