Brochures, A5 Bi-Fold Brochure
An A5 bi-fold brochure is a single A4 sheet printed on both sides and folded once down the middle, giving four A5 pages (148 x 210mm): a front cover, a two-page inside spread and a back cover. It is the simplest folded brochure and the most book-like, which suits menus, price lists, event programs, order-of-service booklets, company profiles and service guides. We print these bi-folds on 150gsm gloss, then crease and fold them so they arrive ready to hand out. Orders start at 250 per design and go up to 7,000. Brochures ship free Australia-wide and are dispatched 4 business days after artwork approval. For a bigger folded piece, an A3 sheet folded in half to A4 is also available.
About this A5 Bi-Fold Brochure spec
Supply the artwork flat as a two-page PDF, each page 303 x 216mm: an A4 landscape sheet (297 x 210mm) plus 3mm bleed. The fold runs down the centre, 148.5mm from the left edge. Page 1 of the PDF is the outside of the sheet (back cover on the left, front cover on the right); page 2 is the inside spread. Keep text at least 10mm from the fold and 5mm from the trimmed edges. Supply CMYK at 300 dpi with fonts outlined or embedded. Photos that cross the fold are split by the crease, so keep faces and text on one side of it.

How many pages does an A5 bi-fold brochure have?
Four: front cover, two inside pages and back cover. It is one A4 sheet printed on both sides and folded once. We don't print stapled booklets with more pages.
What size is a bi-fold brochure flat and folded?
Flat it is A4, 297 x 210mm in landscape. Folded it closes to A5, 148 x 210mm. With 3mm bleed, each page of your PDF should be 303 x 216mm.
How do I lay out the pages?
Make a two-page PDF. Page 1 is the outside of the sheet, with the back cover on the left half and the front cover on the right. Page 2 is the inside, with pages 2 and 3 side by side. Templates with the fold and bleed marked are on our templates page.
What stock is used?
A4 bi-folds are printed on 150gsm gloss, a substantial sheet that suits menus and company profiles that get handled. If you want a lighter 115gsm gloss, it is offered on the A3 sheet folded to A4.

Bi-fold or tri-fold: which should I choose?
A bi-fold gives four larger A5 pages, better for photos and menus. An A4 tri-fold folds to DL (99 x 210mm) with six narrower panels, better for DL envelopes, DL racks and step-by-step content.
