Use ACM where a sign must last: a business name beside a door, a directory board in a lobby, a building or site name, or a directional sign in a car park. Gloss laminate is offered from A2 up to 900 x 1200mm and adds scratch resistance and some UV protection. Strata and body corporate buildings usually have rules about signs on common property, so get approval before you order. Can I fix an ACM sign to a strata building in Sydney?
Usually only with approval from the owners corporation or building manager, and sometimes council. Ask first, because the rules differ by building and by whether it is common property.
Does salt air affect ACM?
Aluminium skins do not rust, and the printed face is the part that ages. Gloss laminate gives some UV and scratch protection on the sizes where it is offered. Colours still fade slowly in strong sun, as on any printed sign.
Which size do I need for a shopfront?
A2 or A1 is common for a name and logo beside a door. 600 x 900mm and 900 x 1200mm suit a larger shopfront, and A0 and the 1200mm panels suit a building face. The price panel shows each size.
Why does a small sign sometimes cost more than a larger one?
Each size and finish is priced separately, and the laminated sizes are priced lower at the moment. Check the next size up with laminate in the price panel.
