In its first month a new trade business needs four kinds of print, in this order: business cards (week one), stickers for the jobs you do (week two), a letterbox flyer for the streets around those jobs (week three), and a site sign or fence banner once you are on bigger jobs. With us, 500 business cards are $74, 1,000 DL flyers are $105 and 500 round stickers are $168. All three together are our Tradie Pack at $330 with free delivery.
Every price on this page comes live from our price engine. We are not registered for GST, so no GST is charged: the price shown is the total you pay. Business cards, flyers and stickers ship free anywhere in Australia.
Week one: business cards
Cards come first because every quote, invoice and conversation on site is a chance to hand one over. Most work for a new tradie comes from people who already know someone you worked for, and a card on their fridge is how they find you.
What to put on it:
- Business name and trade, in words a customer would search ("Electrician", not just a logo).
- Your name and mobile, large. Most customers ring.
- The suburbs or region you cover.
- Your licence number, where your state requires it on advertising (electrical, plumbing and building licences usually are).
- Your ABN if you want it on hand for invoices.
500 cards on 310gsm printed both sides is the starting point. A matt laminate or a 400gsm card survives a glovebox and a wallet better; see business cards for tradies for options and prices.
Week two: stickers that bring the next job
A sticker on the switchboard, the meter box, the hot water unit or the pool pump means the next call goes to you, not to whoever comes up first in a search. Put the business name, phone number and "For service call" on it, and stick one on every job.
Gloss paper stickers suit switchboards, meter boxes and paperwork. For toolboxes, utes and anything left outside, use waterproof white synthetic: 500 round 50mm stickers are $169. Toolbox stickers and a sticker on the back window of the ute carry your name to every site you park at.
Week three: a letterbox drop around your jobs
Neighbours watch the work happen. A flyer in their letterbox the same week, with one offer and your phone number, turns that into the next booking. A DL flyer printed on one side is enough: one photo of finished work, three things you do, the suburbs you cover and the phone number in large type. 1,000 DL flyers cover the streets around a few jobs; see how many flyers to print.
Weeks one to three, as one order
The cards, stickers and flyers are printed as one job and sent together, so they cost less than ordering them one at a time:
| Item | On its own | In the pack |
|---|---|---|
| 500 business cards (90 x 55mm (Standard), 310gsm, double sided) | $74 | $74 |
| 1,000 DL flyers (99 x 210mm (DL), 150gsm gloss, single sided) | $105 | $103 |
| 500 stickers (50mm circle, white cast gloss paper, single sided, gloss varnish) | $168 | $153 |
| Delivery to 4000 | Free | Free |
| Total, no GST charged | $347 | $330 |
The pack saves $17 on buying the items one at a time. Every item can be changed on the Tradie Pack page before you add it to your basket.
Every item can be changed before you add the pack to your basket: card stock and laminate, flyer size and sides, sticker size and material.
Once you are on bigger jobs: site signs
Builders, landscapers, pool builders and painters on longer jobs put a sign on the site fence while the work is on. A 600 x 900mm corflute sign is $41 for one, and a 2 x 1m PVC fence banner is $85. Check whether your builder or the client allows signs on site, and your council's rules for signs facing the street.
What not to print yet
Letterheads, compliment slips and brochures can wait until you know what customers ask for. Most new tradies send quotes and invoices by email from an app, and a brochure is rarely read before a phone call. Spend the first month's print budget on things that are handed over, stuck on, or dropped in a letterbox.
Timing
After you approve the artwork, business cards are dispatched in 4 to 8 business days, flyers in 4 to 6 and stickers in 3 to 4. If you have just registered the business, get the logo and phone number settled first: reprinting 500 cards with a new number costs more than waiting a week.
