Feather Flags for Canberra businesses
Canberra is a city of wide verges, ovals and open parkland, which gives a tall flag room to be seen and also leaves it exposed to wind. Feather flags mark open homes in the new suburbs, car yards and trade outlets along main roads, sports registration days, and stalls at outdoor events around Lake Burley Griffin. We print three heights, small (2400mm), medium (3450mm) and large (4700mm), on lightweight or silverback fabric, single or double sided. With pole, ground spike and carry bag, the small flag starts at $172 for 1 (2.4m Small, lightweight fabric, single sided, flag, pole, spike and bag) and the medium at $210 for 1 (3.45m Medium, lightweight fabric, single sided, flag, pole, spike and bag); a replacement flag without hardware starts at $133 for 1 (2.4m Small, lightweight fabric, single sided).
The price shown is the total you pay: we are not registered for GST, so none is added. The ground spike only works in soft ground such as lawn or garden beds, and on a frosty winter morning even grass can be hard, so test the spot first. We do not sell a cross base or water bag for concrete or paving. Wind across open grounds in spring can be gusty, so on an exposed oval pick the small or medium height and bring the flag in overnight. Flags go by courier to Gungahlin, Belconnen, Phillip, Fyshwick, Mitchell and Tuggeranong, with no pickup; Queanbeyan addresses use NSW postcodes and may see a different estimate. For alternatives see teardrop flags and the flag shapes guide.
Who orders Feather Flags in Canberra
Real estate agencies mark open homes in growth suburbs such as those in Gungahlin and the Molonglo Valley. Car dealers and trade outlets on arterial roads fly flags for passing traffic. Sporting clubs use them at ovals on registration and game days, and community groups, food vendors and exhibitors mark stalls at outdoor events and markets.
Canberra events & seasonal calendar
- Summer events and markets (December to March): stallholders mark entrances on open grass
- Winter sport registrations (late summer and autumn): clubs flag their grounds
- Floriade (spring): exhibitors and nearby businesses mark stands; check the organiser's current dates
- Spring property season: agents run open homes most weekends
- Winter frosts (June to August): hard ground can make the spike difficult to place early in the day
Local signage rules
In the ACT, flags and signs on public land, road verges and footpaths fall under ACT Government rules rather than a local council, and placing them can need approval. Event sites such as Commonwealth Park and private venues set their own conditions. Check with the ACT Government or the event organiser before putting a flag out, and keep flags off verges near intersections where they could block sightlines.
Canberra FAQs
How much are feather flags in Canberra, and is GST added?
The small flag with pole, spike and bag starts at $172 for 1 (2.4m Small, lightweight fabric, single sided, flag, pole, spike and bag), and the flag alone at $133 for 1 (2.4m Small, lightweight fabric, single sided). The price shown is the total you pay: we are not registered for GST, so none is added. Bigger flags, silverback fabric and double-sided printing raise the price.
How long will my flags take to reach Canberra?
Dispatch is 3 business days after artwork approval, and delivery to Canberra is estimated at 2–4 business days after dispatch. Delivery is priced by size, quantity and postcode and appears in your basket before payment.
Will the spike go into frozen ground?
Not easily. On a frosty morning wait for the ground to soften or choose a lawn that gets early sun. The spike needs soft ground, and we have no base for hard surfaces.
Which height suits an open oval?
Small (2400mm) or medium (3450mm). A large flag catches much more wind, so keep it for sheltered car yards or event entrances, and lower any flag when gusts pick up.
Should I choose silverback fabric?
Choose it for a single-sided flag when you do not want the design showing through in reverse. For a message that must read the right way from both directions, order double-sided printing instead.
Can I pick up flags in Canberra?
No. There is no pickup anywhere; flags are couriered to your door, including addresses in Queanbeyan and the surrounding region.
