Feather Flags for Darwin businesses
Darwin's dry season is made for outdoor trading: night markets on the foreshore, sporting carnivals, rodeos and community festivals, with steady trade breezes and clear skies. A tall feather flag shows people where your stall, car yard or open home is from a long way off. We print three heights, small (2400mm), medium (3450mm) and large (4700mm), on lightweight or silverback fabric, printed one side or both. The small flag with pole, spike and carry bag starts at $172 for 1 (2.4m Small, lightweight fabric, single sided, flag, pole, spike and bag), the medium kit at $210 for 1 (3.45m Medium, lightweight fabric, single sided, flag, pole, spike and bag), and a flag without hardware at $133 for 1 (2.4m Small, lightweight fabric, single sided).
The price shown is the total you pay: we are not registered for GST, so none is added. The wet season is another matter. Storms in the build-up arrive with sudden squalls, and from about November to April cyclones are possible, so take flags down whenever severe weather is forecast and never leave them out overnight. Fierce sun also fades fabric over months, so keep a spare for a long campaign. The spike needs soft ground such as lawn or sand; we do not offer a cross base or water bag for concrete. Flags are couriered to the CBD, Winnellie, Berrimah, Palmerston, Howard Springs and Humpty Doo, with no pickup, and remote addresses take longer. Compare shapes in our flag guide.
Who orders Feather Flags in Darwin
Car, boat and caravan dealers in Winnellie and Berrimah fly flags along busy roads. Market stallholders and food vendors mark their spot at dry-season markets. Real estate agents flag open homes in Palmerston and the northern suburbs, and sporting clubs, rodeos and community events use flags at gates and registration tents.
Darwin events & seasonal calendar
- Dry season (May to October): markets, carnivals and outdoor events; check each organiser's current dates
- Darwin Festival (dry season): venues and vendors mark entrances
- Build-up (around October to December): sudden storms, so bring flags in early
- Wet and cyclone season (roughly November to April): take flags down when warnings are issued
- End of financial year sales (June): car and boat yards run promotions
Local signage rules
The City of Darwin and the City of Palmerston control flags and signs on footpaths, verges and public land, and roads managed by the Territory have their own rules. Markets and event grounds set conditions for stallholders. Check with the council, the road authority or the event organiser before putting a flag on public ground.
Darwin FAQs
How much are feather flags in Darwin, and is GST added?
Kits with pole, spike and bag start at $172 for 1 (2.4m Small, lightweight fabric, single sided, flag, pole, spike and bag), and the flag alone at $133 for 1 (2.4m Small, lightweight fabric, single sided). The price shown is the total you pay: we are not registered for GST, so none is added.
How long do flags take to reach Darwin?
Dispatch is 3 business days after approval, and delivery to Darwin is estimated at 4–8 business days after that. Delivery is priced by size, quantity and postcode and shown in your basket before you pay.
Can I leave a flag up in the wet season?
Only in fair weather and while someone is on site. Storms arrive quickly, and any flag or pole can be damaged or thrown in strong wind. Take it down when severe weather or a cyclone warning is issued.
Will the spike work on a market site?
On grass or sand, yes. On concrete, bitumen or pavers it will not, and we do not sell a base for hard surfaces, so check the ground before you order.
Which height should I choose?
Medium (3450mm) suits most stalls and yards. Large (4700mm) reads from further away but catches far more wind, and small (2400mm) suits tight spots and exposed sites.
Will colours fade in the Top End sun?
Over months of daily use, yes. Order a spare flag for a long campaign and store flags out of the sun when not in use.
