Feather Flags for Townsville businesses

Townsville is a flat, spread-out city where most customers arrive by car, so a tall flag on Bowen Road, Duckworth Street or a busy strip in Kirwan or Aitkenvale is one of the simplest ways to be noticed. Flags also turn up at show grounds, sports carnivals, school fetes and open homes on the newer estates at Burdell and Mount Low. We print them in small (2400mm), medium (3450mm) or large (4700mm), on lightweight or silverback fabric, single or double sided. The set with pole, spike and carry bag starts at $172 for 1 (2.4m Small, lightweight fabric, single sided, flag, pole, spike and bag) for the small height and $210 for 1 (3.45m Medium, lightweight fabric, single sided, flag, pole, spike and bag) for the medium, and a flag alone for an existing pole starts at $133 for 1 (2.4m Small, lightweight fabric, single sided). The price shown is the total you pay: we are not registered for GST, so none is added.

The dry season is long, bright and often breezy, which is good for visibility and hard on fabric. Months of strong sun fade printed colours, so a flag flying every day on a frontage will need replacing sooner than one used on weekends. Afternoon sea breezes and wet-season storms can both be strong; take flags down when gusts pick up or a storm or cyclone is forecast. The spike suits soft ground, yet late in the dry a lawn can bake hard, so test the spot before an event. Concrete, bitumen and pavers need a cross base or water bag, which we do not sell. For a fence line at a show or sports ground, a mesh banner lets wind through, and a rectangle flag shows more of a long message.

Flags are dispatched 3 business days after artwork approval, and delivery to Townsville is estimated at 2–4 business days after dispatch. Delivery is charged by size, quantity and postcode and appears in the basket before payment. The courier delivers across the city, from Garbutt and Hyde Park to Thuringowa, Kelso and Deeragun, and out to Ayr, Ingham and Charters Towers, where delivery may take longer. There is no Townsville store to collect from.

Who orders Feather Flags in Townsville

Car yards, tyre and battery shops, and trade and rural stores on the main roads use flags for roadside visibility. Real estate agents mark open homes and display villages on the new estates. Sports clubs, show societies and school P&Cs mark entrances, canteens and sponsor areas, and gyms, cafes and new shops use a flag for openings and promotions.

Townsville events & seasonal calendar

  • Dry season (roughly May to October): outdoor events, shows and open homes at their busiest
  • Local agricultural show season (winter): exhibitors and sponsors mark stands
  • Townsville 500 (mid-year; check the organiser's current dates): businesses and sponsors promote race weekend
  • Late dry season (September to November): strongest sun on fabric, and hard ground for spikes
  • Wet and cyclone season (roughly November to April): take flags in before storms
Note:

Local signage rules

Townsville City Council regulates flags and other advertising devices on footpaths, road reserves and council land, and approval is usually needed there. Keep flags on your own property clear of footpaths and away from drivers' sight lines at driveways and intersections. Show grounds, sports venues and shopping centres have their own rules for flags, so check with the organiser first.

Townsville FAQs

Will the spike go into dry Townsville ground?

The spike is made for soft ground such as lawn, garden beds or sand. Late in the dry season some lawns are baked hard, so test the spot first. For concrete, bitumen or pavers you need a cross base or water bag, which are not in our range.

How long will a flag last in Townsville sun?

It depends on how often it flies. Colours fade over months of daily outdoor use, so for a permanent frontage plan on a replacement; the flag-only option lets you reuse your pole.

What should I do when a storm is coming?

Take the flag down and store it with the pole. The pole is designed to bend in normal wind, but storm gusts can pull the spike out or tear the fabric.

Single or double sided?

A single-sided flag shows the design reversed on the back, which is fine for a logo or a word like OPEN. For text that reads correctly from both directions of traffic, choose double sided and supply a two-page PDF.

How much are feather flags in Townsville, and is GST added?

Prices start at $172 for 1 (2.4m Small, lightweight fabric, single sided, flag, pole, spike and bag), or $133 for 1 (2.4m Small, lightweight fabric, single sided) if you already have a pole. The price shown is the total you pay. Medium and large flags, silverback fabric and two-sided printing cost more, and the price panel shows each live price.

How long do feather flags take to reach Townsville?

Dispatch is 3 business days after your artwork is approved, then delivery to Townsville is estimated at 2–4 business days. Delivery is priced by size, quantity and postcode and shown in your basket before you pay.
